Is Liverpool really in turmoil

After the dreadful end to what was a promising transfer window, I am left wondering are my Liverpool Football Club in turmoil.

Out with the old and in with the new has never been so true at this club, with senior players and staff moved on and replaced with younger fresher members with new ideas. However not all went as planned and our visible lack of goalscorers as the window slammed shut is a big concern. I don’t think I’ve ever been more unsure of where our next goal is coming from (and not in a good way).

The emergence of Raheem Sterling has been a huge boost for everyone associated with the club but will another youngster Adam Morgan really be the answer to our biggest question. He seems like he will die for the club, he certainly won’t come off the pitch not given 100% but it is unfair on lad to expect the goals to flow constantly straight away.

I’ve been looking at our Premier League and Europa League squads and I was quite surprised at how pleased I was. We have a really strong core with a lot of experience. Mix that with the new crop of youngsters, who I believe under Rodgers will get more than their fair chance to impress and we have a decent chance to surprise a lot of people and have a good season in our first year as “NEW LIVERPOOL”.

Unfortunately the one thing that made me think I had to use the words “decent chance”, “surprise” & “good season” instead of “we WILL have a GREAT season” , is what I stated before ” our visible lack of goalscorers”. We don’t have that special 20-30 goal a season player or even 5 players that will hit double figures. Until we fix this problem will we ever get back to where we all believe we belong, at the top, not just in England but in Europe as well. We are Liverpool we don’t settle for second place,  we shouldn’t think 4th place is great or even acceptable (however we all will at present ). We should be striving to not just have a history but to be making history and that seems further away than it ever has been.

Only time will tell and I hope I am wrong but that 4th place, that Holy Grail they call the champions league just seems like a distant dream now instead of a guarantee.
